霍金預言　上帝粒子可摧毀全宇宙

英國著名物理及天文學家霍金(Stephen Hawking)在下月推出的一本新書《Starmus》上撰寫序言，警告在極高的能量水平上，「上帝粒子」可能會突然變得異常不穩，引發「真空衰減」(vacuum decay)的災難後果，導致「時間及空間崩潰」。

據英國《星期日泰晤士報》報導，霍金其實對「毀天滅地」並不太憂慮，稱災難出現的可能極低，但他認為，他所提出的可能性論點，意味著一個全新的物理學領域出現。「上帝粒子」又名「希格斯玻色子」(Higgs boson)，是各種物質存在的基礎，2012年歐洲核子研究組織（CERN）進行粒子對撞實驗，首次證明「上帝粒子」確實存在。英國物理學者希格斯(Peter Higgs)及比利時同業恩勒特(Francois Englert)是「上帝粒子」研究的倡導者，二人因此榮獲去年的諾貝爾物理學獎。（施旖婕／綜合報導）
