（法新社華盛頓17日電）美國國家航空暨太空總署（NASA）一年前下達戰帖，如今業餘天文學家不負眾望達標，提出1款應用軟體來協助捕捉更多小行星。

有些小行星的繞行軌道可能危及地球。

NASA去年向民間科學家發出名為「行星數據獵人」（The Asteroid Data Hunter）的挑戰，並提供5.5萬美元的獎金。

NASA指出，得獎軟體可以協助辨識小行星的方位，而且捕捉到的數量遠遠超過目前。

NASA的聲明說：「本太陽系火星和木星之間這個主要小行星帶所攝得的影像，以得獎軟體的演新算法加以分析，所能捕捉到的小行星增加了15%。」

這次比賽讓新手天文學家得以改進辨識小行星的演算法。（譯者：中央社蔡佳敏）
