小熊先發投手Jake Arrieta此役面對老東家金鶯，展現壓制力、先發7局僅丟1分，隊友Luis Valbuena、Javier Baez同場開轟，率軍終場以4比1贏球，Kevin Gausman吞下第5敗（7勝）。

Arrieta去年6月自金鶯轉戰小熊，這一戰投99球（62球好球），僅被敲4安，其中Nelson Cruz敲出陽春砲，送出5次三振，丟出1保送，收下本季第7勝（4敗），防禦率2.53。

本季首次面對老東家，Arrieta說：「第一局投得滿緊張，但之後滿順利的，很開心見到以前的夥伴，很久沒看到了。」

金鶯這一戰僅在第5局靠Cruz開轟、攻下第1分，Cruz本季全壘打數來到34支，仍是聯盟第1。

Gausman主投5局，全場飆出7K，被敲6安，挨2轟、失掉3分責失分，承擔敗投，本季戰績7勝5敗，防禦率3.81。
