美國務院前官員：應尊重台灣民主選舉

「詹姆士頓基金會」（The JAMESTOWN FOUNDATION）今天在華府舉辦第5屆年度中國國防安全論壇，期間談到台灣議題。美國務院前東亞助卿坎貝爾（Kurt Campbell）回覆中央社記者對台海情勢提問時說，台灣將在明年舉行總統大選，中美應該靜觀情勢，讓台灣完成民主選舉。

坎貝爾說，台美關係雖是非官方關係，但雙邊一直都有良好互動。提到美國在亞洲面臨挑戰，坎貝爾形容習近平是「最具共產黨思維的領導人」，美國最重要的事情，就是讓中國「正確行事」，維持區域穩定。（余浚安／綜合外電報導）
