德國聯邦時期總統魏茨澤克（Richard von Weizsaecker）今天逝世，享壽94歲。

根據維基百科，魏茨澤克生於斯圖加特，與現任總理梅克爾同屬基民黨。他於1984年至1994年擔任聯邦總統，也是東西德統一後首任總統。魏茨澤克在位時力促德國正視納粹黑暗時代，並譴責極右派暴力行為。

在1985年納粹戰敗40周年紀念日上，他發表了一段留名千古的演說，「站在這裡的我們，無論有罪與否，無論年輕與否，都必須面對過去歷史」，「我們都被歷史影響，也必須對它負責」。（余浚安／綜合外電報導）
