油價下挫讓美國消費者「減稅」日益增加，美國經濟亦將大幅受益。

高盛估計，目前為止，汽油價格大跌省下的支出，相當於美國家庭減稅750億美元。若汽油價格依舊低迷，隨著時間，此一利益可能仍將擴大。

如果油價停留於目前水平，對一般的美國家庭而言，一年可節省近1100美元。對許多月光族家庭及大衰退結束後薪水少見上漲的人而言，這可是一筆不小的橫財。
