美國男籃擺脫慢熱的缺點，昨開賽後瘋狂搶攻，加上新一哥戴維斯與「半獸人」法瑞德聯手攻下36分、20籃板，98比71輕取紐西蘭，3連勝到手提前晉級16強。

紐西蘭賽前跳起毛利人傳統戰舞，讓在旁熱身的美國球星們停下腳步欣賞起來，不過來到「真強實彈」的賽場上，美國隊球星以華麗的快打旋風方式「回饋」對手。

美國隊次節發動30比15強攻，半場結束取得57比35遙遙領先，最終拿下2006世錦賽4強賽不敵希臘之後的國際賽57連勝。

美國隊仗著身材優勢，全場有54分來自禁區，加上掌握制空權（籃板球47比32），戴維斯21分、9籃板，法瑞德15分、11籃板，贏得輕鬆寫意。

K教練薛塞斯基表示，球員打出應有的積極，攻擊把握度高，防守也毫不遜色（對手失誤21次），是一場好比賽。

東歐強權立陶宛75比82爆冷不敵澳洲，林書豪的火箭前隊友莫提尤納斯，雖先發上陣但只打8分鐘，留下2分、2籃板、2失誤，貢獻值不高。
