紀念一戰百年 英熄燈1小時

（法新社倫敦4日電） 英國各地今天紛紛響應「熄燈」（Lights Out）活動，以紀念第一次世界大戰爆發100週年。一戰奪走近100萬條英國人的性命。

主辦單位鼓勵英國數以百萬計家庭，在晚間10時到11時熄燈1小時，並點燃1根蠟燭，這項活動是受到時任英國外交大臣葛雷（Edward Grey）的話語所啟發。

葛雷於一戰前夕感嘆道，「歐洲所有的燈火即將熄滅，在我們有生之年，不會看見它們再度點燃」。

英國首相卡麥隆（David Cameron）位於唐寧街10號的官邸階梯上，也會留下1根蠟燭。

這場「熄燈」活動是由皇家英國退伍軍人協會（Royal British Legion）籌辦。（譯者：中央社劉文瑜）
