去年2月時，《蘋果》曾為大家介紹人工視網膜植入產品The Argus II Retinal Prosthesis System，產品包含一顆小的視頻鏡頭、裝在眼鏡上的發射器、影像處理器、人工視網膜等，藉以替換已受損的視網膜細胞。透過這項產品，雖無法恢復視力，但可幫助色素性視網膜炎患者感受光影，對於辨識自身位置，以及周邊人們、物體的移動大有幫助。
 
《CNN》最近報導了第二位使用人工視網膜植入產品患者Roger Pontz的近況，報導指出經過六個月的手術重建、復健治療，原本被判定終身無法恢復視力的他，現在可以看到人的光影。Roger Pontz也表示有信心在未來的某一天，他能重新看到這美麗的世界。（王建鑫／綜合報導）
