狀元惡夢 歐登：我很失敗

雖然本季成功的回歸，從龐大的傷病史中重新復出球場，但歐登(Greg Oden)在2007年NBA選秀會上，超越杜蘭特(第2順位)，成為該年NBA「選秀狀元」的故事，仍被評為聯盟史上最失敗選秀結果之一。對此歐登的友人透露，「歐登自己也承認，他自己是聯盟史上最失敗的選擇之一。」

當年一度被視為聯盟下一個「中鋒世代」的代表性人物，身高7呎、體重250磅的歐登過去5季僅打了82場，就因為久久不癒的膝蓋傷勢而宣佈高掛球鞋。

本季歐登總算回到球場，在衛冕軍熱火的力挺下，自邁阿密南灘復出。但本季23戰僅有2.9分、2.3籃板、0.6火鍋表現，與「狀元」及當初的滿滿期待絲毫無法劃上等號。

歐登昔日的大學戰友提塔斯(Mark Titus)在接受訪問時就透露，這位昔日的天才長人自己也知道，他是聯盟史上「最大的失敗」之一。

提塔斯說道，「我直接問了歐登，如果你注定一輩子都要當個『溫板凳』的替補球員，你願意接受嗎？」

而歐登則回應，「我知道自己是聯盟史上最大的失敗之一，而且我知道當杜蘭特持續闖出好表現，情況只會越來越糟。我的身體不能做到我腦中想做的事，這有時真的很令人沮喪，但擔憂、抱怨並不能解決任何事情。」

「但我一點都不後悔復出，一點都不後悔加入熱火！」歐登如此說道。

在杜蘭特本季風光奪下「年度MVP」頭銜後，當年選秀會聲勢遠比KD高上許多的歐登，心中落寞可想而知，對於目前年僅26歲的歐登來說，只要能遠離傷病困擾，未來的職業生涯仍有機會拚出表現，也許不能登峰造極，但至少歐登能證明自己的心態、場上表現，都足以在NBA賽場上與對手一較高下。
