舊金山Fed銀行總裁John Williams周四說，聯準會(Fed)不能等到通貨膨脹重新回到2%之上，才開始調高短期利率。

在Fox商業網路公司接受訪問時，Williams說他認為去年底油價下跌後，核心通貨膨脹已開始回穩，還說他將會注意今年稍後，通貨膨脹是否有上升的跡象。

今年為Fed決策委員會具有投票權委員的Williams重申他的觀點，即如果經濟持續改善，一如他的預期，則在夏季或秋季進行初次升息，可能屬適當。

Williams支持Fed在有關央行政策計劃的政策聲明中，維持語意不明的做法。他說，讓市場根據數據，自行判斷，應該較好。
