昨天休息一天的Derek Jeter，今天在基襪之戰的第二場比賽以先發第二棒，指定打擊的身份上場，兩個打數打出1支安打，這場比賽最後洋基4比10落敗。

全場的紅襪球迷，齊聲高喊Derek Jeter的名字，這在死敵的芬威球場，確實是不容易見到的景象。

不過這場比賽，Derek Jeter還是沒有打完，三局上半，他打出一記高彈跳，越過投手上方，三壘手Garin Cecchini趕上來，雖然接到這球，但傳不出去，形成1支內野安打。

這是Derek Jeter生涯第3464支安打，也很有可能是最後1支，因為在全力跑向一壘的過程中，Derek Jeter似乎是有點受傷，下一個打席就被代打換掉了。

「大腿可能有點不舒服，」洋基總教練Joe Girardi賽後表示，「他並沒有說他受傷，不過我們會看情形。」

在芬威球場最後的三連戰前，Derek Jeter表示，為了向紅襪球迷致敬，他在最後兩戰，會以指定打擊的身份上場，不過現在第三戰能不能上，恐怕很難說。
