如果不靠聯盟罰款，該用什麼方式，讓尼克「神經射手」J.R. Smith不再搞怪？

前尼克中鋒Kurt Thomas認為，如果陣中多一點學長，那麼Smith會比較收斂，不會做出像是「替對手鬆開鞋帶，被聯盟罰款5萬」的蠢事。

「要是有個老將耳提面命，告訴Smith保持專注有多麼重要，那樣的事情不會發生。」Thomas說。

這樣的說法有沒有道理？看看Thomas為尼克效力的最後一個球季，尼克陣中除了有這位18年資歷的中鋒，還有Jason Kidd、Rasheed Wallace、Marcus Camby等「大學長」。那一季，Smith拿下最佳第六人，尼克例行賽拿下54勝，高居東區第二。

不過，隨著這些老將離隊、退休，尼克上個球季退步17勝，無法晉級季後賽，Smith的脫序行徑，也引來批評。
