高雄前鎮區31日晚間11點多發生嚴重石化油氣氣爆，截至1日上午已知造成22人死亡、270多人受傷。國防部表示，高雄氣爆投入1439人救災，搶救可能受困民眾，期盼透過地毯式搜尋倖存者。

氣爆發生之後，國防部立即派出500多名國軍弟兄搶進爆炸現場，從黑夜一直找到天亮，他們地毯式的搜尋倖存者。

高雄市政府表示，爆炸的道路無法再提供服務，交通會大亂，已公告管制區，請市民不要進去。

管制區是三多路（中正路－凱旋路）、三多路－光華路－一心路－凱旋路包圍之範圍內建議改行外圍道路：中正路－五福路－民權路－中山路－凱旋路－瑞隆路－瑞隆東路－南京路－國泰路。
