美國網站「Lifestyle 9」9日根據美國聯邦調查局（FBI）的資料分析，因應犯罪率、經濟狀況等因素，選出全球十大最安全的國家及地區，日本高踞榜首，臺灣排第二，香港位列第三。

根據東方日報報導，該網站根據犯罪率、自然災害、貪污程度及經濟狀況等因素，評估各國及地區的安全程度。網站指出，名列第一的日本，文化是其成為最安全國家的主因，因為日本人普遍避免作出令國家蒙羞的行為。至於排行第二的臺灣，在暴力罪行、搶劫的層面而言，臺灣是全世界最佳居住的地方之一。

網站指，排行第三的香港犯罪率遠低於歐美國家，鮮有嚴重罪案發生。網站又提到，香港警察辦案效率高，且執勤時態度專業，經常巡查餐廳、酒吧等公眾場所，令遊客較有安全感。
