雖然讓阿爾及利亞率先進球，但比利時憑藉替補Marouane Fellaini與Dries Mertens在下半場的進球，最終2：1取得逆轉勝。

2014年世界盃H組首場賽事在美景市米內羅體育場開踢，由睽違12年再闖世界盃的比利時，與綽號「沙漠之狐」，此組另兩隊為俄羅斯與南韓。

阿爾及利亞隊史4度踢進世界盃，在此役不但先馳得點，Sofiane Feghouli靠12碼球結束隊史在世界盃長達506分鐘的進球荒，但卻高興不了太久。

賽前〈ESPN〉預測，比利時有65%的贏球機會，果然紅魔鬼在下半場有所回應，Fellaini在第70分鐘頭槌入網追平比分。

10分鐘後比利時攻勢再起，Mertens右路起腳射門中的，最終2：1逆轉阿爾及利亞，搶下3分積分。
