說床邊故事應該是誰的工作？根據英國《每日電訊報》的報導，有英國研究指出床邊故事若交由父親來說，將更有助於促進孩子的學習能力和成長。

英國父親協會的研究指出，母親唸床邊故事通常都照本宣科，但大多父親都會用說書的方式講故事，甚至有時候會提出一些問題，讓小孩腦力激盪。而正因為父親利用更為戲劇化的方式講故事，研究就發現，這些孩童上幼稚園後行為更為乖巧、上課比較專心，到了十歲，語言能力以及數學也明顯地比同儕好。

北威爾斯格林多大學心理系資深講師威廉博士（Dr. Emyr Williams）也指出，因為在多數幼童心裡父親具有英雄形象，所以聽到英雄說故事，這會鼓勵他們學習模仿，甚至促使日後能夠獨立看書。（劉亭廷／綜合報導）
