星國大小冰山斷裂漂流　恐威脅船運安全

【國際中心／綜合外電報導】一座面積如新加坡大小的巨型冰山自今年7月從南極冰川斷裂後，目前正緩慢地向公海移動。研究人員指稱，它可能進入繁忙的航道並對航行船隻造成潛在的威脅。
 
根據美國航太總署（NASA）的最新衛星觀測指出，這座冰山長約35公里，寬約20公里，面積約為700平方公里，相當於新加坡或2個美國亞特蘭大市的面積。
 
冰山崩解為一個漫長的過程。科學家認為，這座巨大的冰山從南極洲松島冰川（Pine Island Glacier）崩裂已經超過2年。2011年10月，NASA的飛機首次發現了一條巨大的裂縫橫穿此冰川，據估計，這座冰山從南極大陸的物理分離可能發生於今年7月中。
