市場調查公司ComScore的資料顯示，去年9月Google地圖行動用戶數量正處於巔峰，達到了8100萬名。但由於Google拒絕為 Apple 提供語音逐向道路導航系統， Apple 用自己開發的地圖app代替了原先內建於iOS系統的Google地圖app。

儘管Google於去年12月推出了iOS版的獨立地圖app，但這仍然不能完全避免其使用者的流失。美國地區大約有600萬名使用者還在iPhone上使用Google地圖，其中還包括了那些沒有升級到iOS6及以上系統版本的使用者。

去年九月，78.3%的iPhone和Android用戶當時正在使用Google地圖，但到今年，這一數字降到了43%；但是這段時間，iPhone和Android總使用者數量從去年的1.04億增加到了1.37億。

Google推出iOS版獨立地圖app時在48小時內就獲得了1000萬次下載，但ComScore的分析師稱使用者並不常用Google地圖。造成這種結果的一個重要原因是 Apple 並不允許第三方app成為系統預設的app。在 Apple 的地盤上，Google地圖雖然贏了口碑，但最終還是輸了市場。
