不管球迷相不相信，大聯盟總裁Bud Selig宣稱，比賽更乾淨了。即使不斷有聲音批評，聯盟反應太慢，但Selig可不這麼認為。

Selig重申打擊禁藥，部分人士認為，這是因為Selig擔心，禁藥會損害他的名聲。「這說法沒意義，」Selig說，「這是我聽過最愚蠢的說法。我打擊禁藥，是因為這有利棒球事業，就算是動搖國本，也要辦下去。」

許多球迷稱現在是「禁藥時代」，Selig相當不以為然。「很多球員並沒有吃藥，」Selig說，「要是照部分人所說，現在是禁藥時代，就是說很多人都吃藥了，那是錯的，很不公平。」

去年有8位球員違反禁藥規定，明星賽MVP「牛奶小子」Melky Cabrera被禁賽50場。今年則有「邁阿密禁藥風雲」，兩位年度MVP得主Alex Rodriguez、Ryan Braun牽扯其中，恐怕被禁賽。

Selig宣布，請來前美國特勤局長Mark Sullivan，協助調查禁藥案，確保沒有漏網之魚。 (接下一頁)
