【綜合報導】8月11日，重慶市氣象台發佈「高溫紅色預警」信號，市內多處高溫達40度。
 
面對酷熱天氣，嗜打麻將的重慶人也有對策。不少市民攜家帶眷更帶上桌子板凳，來到溪邊陰涼處玩「水中麻將」。大人桌上打牌，小孩一邊玩水，暑意全消。

【綜合報導】廣西柳州一名36歲劉姓女子，好不容易在朋友的介紹下，認識了一名比自己大1歲的陳姓單身男子，還一見傾心，可惜她多次邀約對方吃飯均被拒絕。

求愛不遂的她，5日晚再次致電陳男約吃飯，不料又被拒絕，她忍不住跑到陳男家中。陳男無奈報警，向警方大呼：「救命啊，有人要逼我談戀愛，現在把我家的電閘都拉下來了！」

警方於當晚11時接報後到場，看到劉女守在陳家門外。當警員表明身份，要求陳男開門後，劉女竟無視警員阻攔，激動地衝進陳男家中，坐在床上賴着不走，還對警員訴苦說：「我都36歲了，經不起折騰了，想和他談戀愛就那麼難嗎？」經警方開導後，劉女保證以後不再糾纏陳男，鬧劇才告平息。

【涂建豐／高雄報導】高雄市長陳菊今日拜訪並邀請深圳市參加2013亞太城市高峰會，深圳市長許勤當面允諾出席，將於9月親自分享深圳的城市發展經驗，同時也感謝台商對深圳經濟的貢獻。陳菊盼雙方加強交流，共創更好的交通條件和觀光合作。
 
陳菊表示，深圳過去10多年來改變許多，城市綠美化成果豐碩，參訪過程令人印象深刻。她說，高市府目前正與高雄港務公司密切合作，加強與亞太地區國際港口的交流，也盼與深圳市有更多往來，尤其是增加小港機場到深圳的直飛航班，讓兩市人民在觀光、經貿上有更深入的交流。

標題[新聞] 新一代好手入列 東亞運成棒名單出爐

【綜合報導】美國中部和東部地區一周來暴雨肆虐，導致多地洪水泛濫，科羅拉多州爆發山洪和泥石流，目前已經導致3人死亡，3人失蹤，至少3人受傷。

美國中部多州5日開始降下滂沱大雨，引發嚴重水災，大量房屋建築毀損，多條州際公路被迫關閉，搜救人員在齊腰深的水中協助居民轉移。進入緊急狀態的密蘇里州，7日徹夜降下254公厘雨量，一名60歲婦女駕車經過一座橋時被暴漲的河水連人帶車沖走而喪生。此外，一名4歲男童與母親也被大水沖走，男童的遺體最終在捲入水中的車中發現，當局出動大批警力和搜救犬，至今仍未找到他的母親。

位於科羅拉多州斯普林斯以西的小鎮曼尼圖9日突發山洪和泥石流，流速每小時30公里、高達3公尺的洪水摧毀了多處房屋，並將道路淹沒。一名53歲男子的屍體掩埋在一堆廢墟中，警方懷疑他在逃離時被暴漲的洪水淹死，至少有3人在水災中受傷送醫。曼尼圖地區由於去年遭受科州史上最大致命山火侵襲，燒焦的土壤無法吸收更多水分，使得該地區極易發生山洪和泥石流，奧克拉荷馬州、堪薩斯州、阿肯色州、密蘇里州以及南卡羅來納州，當地政府也由於河水漲至危險水位而發出洪水警報。

美國國家氣象局警告，儘管本周末科州的降雨可能會減弱，但未來48小時內，田納西河谷可能迎來風暴。密蘇里州和堪薩斯州的暴雨預計會持續到本周末，沿加斯科內德河的水位可能會高達創紀錄的水平。

【綜合報導】前國防部長楊念祖因涉及作品抄襲事件，緊急請辭獲准，又傳出有政治人物涉及論文代筆，且這次是對岸中國的國家主席習近平。英國《星期日泰晤士報》(The Sunday Times)指出，中國國家主席習近平在2002年獲得法學博士學位所撰寫的論文，可能是由其他人代筆。

該報聲稱，上星期在香港得到了一份習近平博士論文的複本，並交給學者分析，結果發現僅從學術角度來看，長達161頁的博士論文不但漏洞百出，而且缺乏原始調查結果；學者認為，這份論文很可能是綜合一些中共官方調查報告，和一些外國研究成果之後，由一組專人加入一些共產主義理論詞彙所寫成。

此外，這份題為《中國農村市場化研究》的論文也似乎與法律、法學毫無關係。據悉，習近平在博士論文中感謝了三名學者和一名研究員「給予極大幫助」，論文還註明參考了97本中文與26本英文書籍。

報道更指習近平的博士論文從未正式發表過，卻早已在內地學術界，傳聞這份博士論文是請人代筆而成。

根據中共官方紀錄顯示，習近平從清華大學取得博士學位之後，不久升任中共政治局常委，而當時的清華大學黨委書記陳希，在習近平任常委後不久，也被調升為教育部副部長。習近平與陳希是大學同學，陳希是福建人，習近平則曾在福建工作十多年。
