【綜合報導】美國福特汽車周五宣布，召修北美37萬輛Crown Victoria、Mercury Grand Marquis以及Lincoln Town Car，表示因為轉向軸(steering shaft)可能生鏽導致汽車失去控制。

被召回的汽車是2005年到2011出產的汽車，約有35萬5千輛在美國，1萬5千輛在加拿大，福特表示將會更換汽車的轉向軸，所幸目前尚未收到任何事故報告，並呼籲車主如果覺得汽車方向盤有問題，就應該送廠檢查確保安全。

【劉人瑋／台東報導】台鐵往返新左營和台東302次自強號，今早發生撞上土石流意外，造成3人傷勢較重，9人輕傷，已送往台東馬偕醫院救治，其中有人腳受傷，須由人扶著上擔架。乘客驚恐回憶：「撞到當下車廂帶人全跳起來，真嚇人！」

有民眾當時就坐在出軌的第5車廂內，表示當時玻璃都碎掉，東西也都掉落，還有人受傷，也有乘客拍下當時第2、3節車廂外照片，只見照片中泥流仿彿瀑布般渲洩而下，讓民眾心驚。

台北市水災災害應變中心晚間表示，截至8月31日為止，共接獲26件災情通報，以道路積水最多，其中中山區停電已派員搶修。

台北市政府表示，為因應台灣上空鋒面雲系帶來強大雨勢，台北市長郝龍斌指示台北市水災災害應變中心於8月31日晚間10時二級開設，15個主要防救災單位立即進駐，徹夜監控降雨情形，以即時應變、處理災情。

此外，災變中心指揮官、消防局長廖茂為也在8月31日晚間10時30分召開首次災害防救會報，他在會中要求台北市大地工程處及各區災害應變中心要針對土石流潛勢溪流、老舊聚落及敏感山坡地逐一巡勘，必要時進行強制疏散撤離。

根據台北市水災災害應變中心資料顯示，截至8月31日晚間12時，通獲災情通報件數共有26件，包括道路積淹水6件、電力停電4件，路樹傾倒2件及交通號誌損害2件。

其中，停電區域集中在中山區的松江路、錦州街和民生東路二段，台電已派員進行搶修。

北市府指出，台北市8月31日下午2時到4時在南港、內湖有波較大雨勢，時雨量達到66毫米；晚間8時受北邊對流發展影響，再次降下第二波較大雨勢；預計9月1日上午8時的12小時累積雨量將逾150毫米，已被中央氣象局列入大豪雨警戒區。

初步預估，最快要到9月1日中午脫離這道鋒面雲系後，雨勢才會趨緩。

根據當地媒體報導，這輛行駛在梅摩斯（Melmoth）鎮高速公路上的巴士1日晚間翻車後滑向路邊，再撞倒護欄，2名婦女與6名男子因傷重而當場死亡。隨後趕至現場救援的護理人員表示，護欄因撞擊力道太大，還刺穿巴士的擋風玻璃。

【李姿慧／台北報導】高鐵連推早鳥優惠，不過高鐵局表示，高鐵優惠還不夠多，將建議高鐵未來再增推家庭票優惠，也可比照國外高鐵，推出1至2折或5折、預購時間更長期的「超級早鳥票」，但因早鳥手續費為定額，為避免民眾搶訂卻不搭、浪費資源，將可修改鐵路運送規則，藉此提高超級早鳥票的退票手續費，或甚至不可退票，目前尚無修法時程表。台灣高鐵則表示，相關建議可納入評估。
