據英國廣播公司（BBC）報導，伊斯蘭遜尼派激進組織「伊拉克和黎凡特伊斯蘭國」（簡稱ISIS或ISIL）在叛軍領袖巴格達迪（Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi）於6月29日宣布建立回教王國，將組織更名為「伊斯蘭國」後，疑首次在錄影片段中露面，呼籲全球穆斯林向他效忠，發動「聖戰」。

此段片段被放上ISIL常用網站，影片中一名身穿黑袍、戴黑帽的蓄鬍男，在摩蘇爾（Mosul）清真寺的講壇講道，呼籲全球信眾服從他。經伊拉克高階顧問表示，經初步推測，男子確實是巴格達迪。

不過，該影片的可信度及拍攝時間，仍有待確認。
