比賽中咬人引發爭議的Luis Suarez，承認自己咬人的行為，並發信正式向受害者Giorgio Chiellini道歉。

「事實是，我的Giorgio Chiellini在衝撞中被我咬到，身體受到傷害。」 Suarez在道歉聲明中指出，承認有咬人的動作，之前他的說法是並無咬人。

「我對這一切發生的事情感到遺憾，並對Chiellini與整個足球大家庭感到抱歉，我發誓永遠不會再發生這樣的事情。」

Chiellini先前就表示過，FIFA（國際足總）對 Suarez的懲處太重，在 Suarez道歉後，他也在Twitter上回應：「發生過的事情就忘了吧！我希望FIFA能減輕對你的懲處。」
