世足賽16強巴西與智利之戰，雙方激戰120分鐘仍踢成1:1平手，最後12碼PK決勝負。雖然巴西仍以總比數4:3晉級8強。但巴西衛生官員表示，有上百人因這場南美國家之戰而不適就醫，1名69歲患有糖尿病的男子看完賽事後心臟病發，送院後證實不治。

被送醫者還包括一名50歲婦女，同樣於12碼PK時突然出現心臟問題。另有一名年輕男子與人打架，導致鼻子被打斷。 （國際中心／綜合外電報導）
