伊拉克風雲急　美國航母駛進波斯灣

美國國防部宣布，已經下令原本部署在阿拉伯海海域的「喬治布希號」航空母艦打擊群，駛入波斯灣，為因應伊拉克的緊急狀況做好準備。

美國國防部的聲明說：「這項命令將使三軍統帥（美國總統）一旦決定要動用武力，保護美國人生命以及在伊拉克的國家利益時，擁有額外的彈性選項。」

喬治布希號航艦將有「菲律賓海號」（USS Philippine Sea）飛彈巡洋艦以及「特拉克斯頓號」（USS Truxtun）飛彈驅逐艦伴隨，美國國防部預計戰鬥群周六稍晚就會在波斯灣部署完成。
