台灣網友3月18日在「美國白宮請願網站」發起的1項連署反對兩岸簽署服貿協議的請願案（Oppose Trade Agreement Between Taiwan and China），在突破11萬8630份連署後，白宮回覆表示，美國支持台灣民主，尊重台灣人對服貿協議未來的決定，並希望以和平與理性的方式討論。白宮重申，美國支持兩岸和平發展，堅決反對兩岸任何一方以片面的手法改變現狀。

不過，網友j68345517在PTT回應，「結果什麼都沒有說 ?」；網友jackhg則說：「罐頭回覆不意外」；還有網友APUDOOR批評，「我小學英文都比白宮回應文好」。

Response to We the People Petition on Taiwan
The United States supports Taiwan's vibrant democracy, which allows for robust political dialogue on a range of issues. The future of the Cross-Strait Trade in Services Agreement is an issue for the people on Taiwan to decide. We hope the discussion can be conducted peacefully and civilly.

As a policy matter, maintenance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait is in the political, security, and economic interest of the United States. We support peaceful resolution of cross-Strait differences in a manner acceptable to people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and we are opposed to any effort to resolve cross-Strait differences through intimidation, coercion, or military force.（陳培煌╱台北報導）
