船長下令不要動 學生反受困

「歲月號」渡輪沉沒、二百多名高中生可能喪生的消息震驚南韓全國，但民眾在震驚之餘，還有憤怒，因為越來越多證據顯示，多數學生因乖巧聽從船長指令而錯失寶貴的逃生契機。

法新社報導，生還者指出，渡輪出事後，乘客多次接到指示，留在座位上或船艙裡，保持冷靜。但那些乖巧聽話的人後來發現，在船身嚴重傾斜後，他們根本無法走動，移位的大型物品擋住去路，水越淹越高，艙門和走道擠滿人，有的門被堵死或因停電打不開，種種混亂讓他們原有的逃生機會幾乎完全消失。

生還學生說，渡輪失事後，船員透過船上的擴音系統說：「保持冷靜，不要動。」生還者許英琦（譯音）說：「我們一直自問：我們不應該動嗎？我們不應嘗試逃出去嗎？但廣播一直說，十分鐘內就會有人來救。」

生還的五十八歲船員吳永錫（譯音）說，從船長首次通知乘客穿上救生衣、保持冷靜，到後來下令棄船，中間約有卅分鐘時間。吳永錫告訴美聯社，船長一直試圖穩住船隻，直到事發半小時後才對船員下達棄船令，但他並不確定船長是否有把棄船的決定透過擴音系統告知乘客。

多位生還者告訴美聯社，他們從未聽到棄船令。

南韓的教育體系紀律嚴明，藐視權威的情況極少出現，多位觀察家判定，「歲月號」上的三百七十五名高中生可能都是在毫不懷疑的情況下遵守船長的指令。

一名生還的女學生告訴ＭＢＣ電視頻道說：「如果有人早一點叫我們逃，就會有更多人跳進海裡。但多數同學都聽從指示，在原地不動。」

「歲月號」傾斜後很快就翻覆，從事後來看，當時應有更多人可逃生卻未能及時逃生。南韓海上安全協會主席裴閔勳說：「失事後指示乘客待在船艙中，是浪費了最寶貴的第一小時。」
