洋基搶田中　8人遊說團影片簡報幫腔

洋基能簽下田中，除價碼開得高外，2周前田中赴美與各隊見面時，洋基還特地組成8人遊說團到加州，與田中、經紀人克羅斯(Casey Close)見面，並且搬出由松井秀喜註解的簡報，甚至拍攝了以「主觀視野」角度的影片，幫田中介紹洋基球場，展現爭取他加盟的用心。
 
洋基總經理凱許曼(Brian Cashman)表示，球團非常重視田中，雖然可能會因此超出團隊薪資上限，但這是必須要做的事情。球團老闆史坦布瑞納(Hal Steinbrenner)則說：「他是名優秀的年輕球員，也是日本最頂尖的選手之一，他要在大舞台上登板，面對更大壓力，但我相信他會挺住這些事情，榮耀我們以及他自己。」(賴德剛／綜合報導)
