極端氣候　美國急凍澳洲爆熱

美國東岸受到新一波「極地渦漩」(Polar Vortex)帶來暴風雪吹襲，多個州份積雪厚達一呎(30公分)，數以百萬計的民眾周三上班交通大受影響。即時監察航空交通網站《FlightAware》表示，當地時間周三(22日)全國有超過1400班航班取消。

美國氣象單位表示，紐約最高氣溫已降至-10°C，體感溫度更只有-25°C。當局出動超過1700架剷雪車，清理10吋高的積雪，紐約市民批評剷雪行動緩慢，形成大擁塞及交通意外，新上任的市長白思豪(Bill de Blasio)也備受批評。多個州份的學校繼續停課，但紐約的莘莘學子就仍然需要上學。

同時在南半球的澳洲，南部受到致命熱浪侵襲，一星期內共造成203人死亡。維多利亞省政府表示，今年在熱浪中死亡的人數較平均高出2倍，死者大多是長者與患心血管疾病人士。（於慶中／綜合外電報導）
