【綜合報導】根據農業食物化學期刊(Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry)刊登的研究報告指出,喝西瓜汁可舒緩肌肉痠痛,加快消除乳酸,縮短運動員的恢復時間。
 
報告中指出先前研究就發現西瓜具有抗氧化的特性,可增加肌肉蛋白質,增強運動員表現。

這次西班牙卡塔吉娜科技大學的研究團隊,針對西瓜含有的瓜氨酸(L-CITRULLINE)做研究,讓受試者在運動前一小時飲用富含瓜氨酸的西瓜汁,以及不含瓜氨酸的天然果汁,發現雖然兩種飲料都有助舒緩肌肉痠痛,但富含瓜氨酸的西瓜汁顯然更能在人體內發揮效用,可加速消除乳酸。
