美國中南部自周日起連續兩天遭龍捲風肆虐，在6州共奪走至少30條人命。其中阿肯色州災情最慘重，龍捲風所到之處幾乎都被夷為平地，摧毀區域長達130公里，至少15人死亡，救難人員在災區搜尋是否有生還者。

根據CNN報導指出這波龍捲風，29日造成美國7500萬民眾受威脅，影響範圍從北美五大湖到墨西哥灣沿岸地區，阿拉巴馬及密西西比州為影響最大的地區，多輛卡車在公路遭強風連人帶車吹翻，數十萬戶無電可用， 美國國家氣象局稱，風暴29日將繼續向東移動，影響還將持續數日，死傷人數恐進一步增加。(桂家齊／綜合外電報導)

美國德拉瓦州多佛市(Dover)一名22歲的中學英語女老師，涉嫌與班上一名13歲的男學生多次發生性行為，當地時間周一(28日)首次出庭應訊，現在她面臨15年有期徒刑的懲罰。

這是22歲的希白莉(Stephanie Seabury)的第一年教師生涯，在當地一所中學教授英文，案情指出，希白莉和班上一名13歲的男學生「關係匪淺」，兩人從今年二月下旬到三月中旬，在每天下課後，多次在希白莉家中發生性關係，整起事件因為男學生三月中旬和同學吹噓自己的性經驗，並不慎說出對象是英文老師，被同學一狀告到學校，才因而曝光。學生家長憤而對她提告，案件周一正式開始審理，據傳二人多次在希白莉家中的多個地點發生關係，此外還互傳了許多內容露骨的電腦訊息、簡訊，與多張裸露照片。（於慶中／綜合外電報導）
