| 削減國防開支 美空軍裁撤逾3千人

美國空軍14日宣佈，由於美國經濟形勢不甚理想，美空軍決定在各級指揮系統中裁撤3459個崗位，未來五年，美空軍可節省16億美元。
按照計劃，美空軍司令部、空軍基地以及海外機構的指揮系統都將進行重組。各級指揮系統將裁撤3459個崗位，其中，參謀、聯絡部門涉及的崗位最多。美空軍還將合併數個海外機構。美空軍情報和偵查部門也在重組之列。此外，美空軍還將在承包合同支出、運營預算以及差旅費等方面入手，進一步削減開支。
據《美空軍時報》報導，雖然具體的裁員名單還沒有公佈，但有消息顯示，位於維州的蘭利尤斯提斯聯合空軍基地將裁員742人，居所有單位之首。同時，734名在五角大樓工作的空軍人員也將被裁掉。美軍官員稱，空軍的瘦身計劃是美軍削減國防開支的一部分。美防長海格去年曾多次表示，要在未來五年內削減20%的國防開支。他指示美軍各部門要制定相關計劃，以實現整體削減目標。削減開支勢必意味著裁員，士兵的權益和福利也成為外界關注的重點，為最大限度的保護士兵的個人利益，美空軍決定啟動自願提早退休計劃和自願分期支付計劃。（國際中心／綜合外電報導）

| 樓梯冰箱莫名起火 住戶抱狗逃命

高雄一棟公寓大樓清晨4時驚傳火警，一樓樓梯間的冰箱不知為何起火燃燒，濃煙瞬間往樓上竄飛，許多睡夢中住戶受到驚嚇趕緊逃命，其中還有民眾抱著一隻哈士奇往樓下逃出，消防隊趕抵很快撲滅火勢，其中一名年邁老婦受到驚嚇被救護車送往醫院觀察，火警原因住戶質疑不單純，火場鑑識人員趕往調查中。(侯昌騰／高雄報導)

| 住家清晨炊事不慎 鄰居報警冒煙

台北市健康路218號之四旁的防火巷內今天凌晨4時許突然傳一股焦臭味，附近居民趕緊打119報案，台北市消防局、警察局及瓦斯公司獲報後，立刻派前人車趕赴現場救災，不過警消到達後，卻未發現明顯火煙，僅在附近聞到一股淡淡的食物煮焦的味道，警消找到報案的民眾，民眾卻表示，僅聞到味道就報警了，並不清楚是哪一戶，警消在現場遍尋不著哪一戶炊事不慎，並一再確認周邊民宅都沒有濃煙及火光傳出後，就收拾器材返隊結束這場虛驚。(李銘宏/台北報導)
