【劉志原╱台北報導】新光醫院睡眠醫學權威醫師江秉穎，前年12月間帶兒子與闕姓等朋友共12人，至台北市萬有全涮羊肉火鍋店消費，江等5人卻在包廂一氧化碳中毒送醫救回一命，台北地院今天判決火鍋店應賠償江等5人共740萬餘元；店家表示，會與律師研究是否上訴。
法官認為，江等人中毒後，造成腦部血液回流不足等後遺症，會有疲勞及暈眩情形，還得擔心日後腦部是否會病變，因此判江等5人各可獲賠精神慰撫金10萬至100萬元不等。
此外，因店家未提供安全用餐環境，再加計一倍懲罰性賠償，連同醫藥費，5人共可獲賠740萬餘元。

【綜合報導】大學指定科目考試英文科結束，作文要求考生在「隱形披風」與「智慧型眼鏡」中擇一並說明理由，考生覺得題型活潑、好發揮，選擇題部份與往年題型相近，整體難度偏易。
師大附中李姓考生說，英文選擇題不難、閱讀測驗多談科學的東西，仔細讀都能找到答案，沒有特別艱澀單字，很好發揮，比考古題簡單；作文則是要在隱形披風與智慧型眼鏡兩項神奇的物品擇一使用，他挑了披風，因為可以選擇性地不被別人看見，若是眼鏡，他則無法避免看到他人的隱私。同校的俞政宇表示，選擇題很符合過去的出題型態，很容易掌握，單字容易看得懂，比往年簡單，作用文他是選擇眼鏡，因為可以紀錄眼前的事物，至於披風使用後有犯罪的疑慮，所以不選；他說，這樣的出題方式新鮮、活潑，也不難發揮。

【綜合報導】動作頻頻的全球最大速食連鎖麥當勞日本公司今天(2日)宣佈，從本周六(6日)起，連續三周周六各推出一款使用高級牛肉的日幣千元(約台幣300元)超大「寶石」系列漢堡，份量是普通漢堡的2.5倍，共有三款口味，每款限量，各只賣一天，全都使用高級食材。
超級漢堡本周六推出的是「金戒指漢堡」(Quarter Pounder Gold Ring)，之後的兩個周六會再推出「黑鑽石」(Black Diamond)與「紅寶火花」(Ruby Spark)，日本全國的麥當勞當天都有出售，每種口味只有30萬個。同時，超大漢堡可搭配套餐，賣1200日圓(約台幣360元)。超大漢堡會用白色的「寶石箱」裝盛，並附帶寫詳細商品內容介紹的卡片等。

【王文傑／花蓮報導】花蓮監獄今上午在監獄內大禮堂舉辦指甲美容及腳底按摩訓練成果展，獄方開放民眾現場體驗，被按摩的民眾直呼讚。
其中一名為愛協助男友販毒入獄7年8個月34歲女子小饅頭(化名)，上月17日獲假釋出獄，她不願中斷最後10天考照機會，主動申請繼續入監受訓，最終考取二級美甲師，她開心說：「習得一技之長，出獄後自己當老闆，一定能闖出一番事業！」

【陳智偉／綜合外電報導】美國「薩克斯風王子」肯尼吉（Kenny G）不僅擅長吹奏樂器、打高爾夫球，還精通投資之道。他慎選財富管理顧問，買股票堅持親自選股、每天盯盤，但堪稱他個人投資代表作的星巴克（STARBUCKS），卻是唯一不經思考，全憑感覺的投資。
現年57歲的肯尼吉畢業自華盛頓大學會計系，專業背景成為他投資操作的優勢之一，現在每天盯的股票標的包括星巴克、蘋果（Apple）、煤礦公司華特能源（Walter Energy）及全球最大化學肥料廠Potash，每天都要查看線圖好幾次，評估加碼或調節時機。
肯尼吉偶爾也會尋求財富管理顧問的專業諮詢，但會仔細考核他們過去的紀錄。然而就算如此謹慎，肯尼吉在金融海嘯仍然吃足苦頭。他說：「突然間，我的潛在收入驟減，股票投資組合價值縮水，不能像以前一樣花錢了。」
肯尼吉是星巴克10位創始股東之一。他回憶當年，星巴克創辦人舒茲（Howard Schultz）帶他到滿是咖啡香的烘焙廠，兩人喝了杯咖啡，就敲定入股投資。肯尼吉說：「我單純認為舒茲人不錯，就簽了張支票給他。」
