| 著名的阿里山水漾森林山徑封閉

嘉義縣阿里山往水漾森林的山徑，包括阿里山鄉豐山村石夢谷步道、豐山村行豐吊橋及阿里山森林遊樂區經眠月線森林鐵路的山路，因地質脆弱，常山崩落石，林務局嘉義林區管理處今天起，基於安全考量封閉，請民眾不要進入，以免發生意外。
水漾森林是921地震所形成的偃塞湖，湖面上枯木林立，雲霧繚繞，景色優美，已成為熱門景點。遊客大都由杉林溪森林遊樂區沿舊溪阿緃走的路線進入，但是少數山友喜歡挑戰高難度路線，由豐山村或阿里山眠月線森林鐵路進入水漾森林，但因這2條山徑地質不穩定，上有搖搖欲墜的巨石，下臨萬丈深淵，稍有下雨或地震就可能造成山崩及落石。
林務局嘉義林區管理處已在豐山村石夢谷步道入口、行豐吊橋橋頭及眠月線森林鐵路設置阻絕設施及告示牌，禁止遊客進入。

| 維持「雄風」 和信引進攝護腺癌微創手術

【蔡明樺／台北報導】攝護腺癌免開刀！不少罹患攝護腺癌的男性，為保命需開刀治療，但又怕開刀後失去「雄風」，和信醫院引進最新的攝護腺癌微創手術「粒子刀」放射治療，治療後性功能受影響的比例從傳統手術約70％降至10％～15％，目前已臨床試驗3名攝護腺癌患者，均恢復良好，治療後第1周就可正常解尿，但此儀器尚未取得衛生署核准許可，仍處於人體臨床試驗階段。
攝護腺癌微創手術「粒子刀」放射治療在美國已有25年臨床應用經驗，和信醫院是全台第一家引進的醫院，該院放射腫瘤科醫師黃奎綱表示，此療法透過電腦導引的粒子植入方式，能將放射粒子更精準置放在攝護腺體中，放射劑量集中在攝護腺裡，避免其他器官組織受損。和信表示，攝護腺癌患者只需1次療程即可，自費價約30～35萬元。

| MLB／藍鳥3A再出發 王建民7局失1分奪勝

在歷經生涯首度DFA(指定轉讓)後，王建民選擇不放棄，繼續留在藍鳥3A拚鬥，台灣時間8日凌晨也在水牛城野牛隊擔任雙重賽晚場先發，對上過去自己也曾打過的國民3A雪城酋長隊。他完投7局只失1分，球隊最後也以4比1拿下勝利。
穿上50號球衣，王建民8日凌晨先發出戰雪城酋長，前3局連續解決9名打者，沒有讓任何人上壘，直到4局才被首名打者敲出安打，並盜上二壘，再靠著第2支安打回到本壘攻下分數。
一壘有人的情況下，下一棒打者擊出二壘方向滾地球，二壘手攔到球後趕緊傳給補位的王建民，王建民又長傳三壘形成一次精彩的雙殺守備，也為自己化解再失分的危機。
5局上王建民再被敲1支安打，不過6、7兩局都讓對手3上3下。總計7局的投球用了83球，有53球是好球，被打3支安打失掉1分，還有1次三振，滾飛比12比7，3A防禦率下降到2.22。
野牛隊在2局下攻下4分大局奠定勝基，最終以4比1擊敗酋長隊，拿下雙重戰兩場勝利，王建民也獲得勝投。
