【李忠謙／綜合外電報導】綁架並囚禁3女長達10年的美國俄亥俄州淫魔卡斯楚，9月初傳在獄中上吊身亡。但俄亥俄州官員昨稱他可能不是死於自殺，而是「窒息式自慰」。

一份俄亥俄州犯罪矯正機關的報告指出，卡斯楚死後被發現時，他的褲子已經褪到腳踝、沒有留下遺書，而且他生前所做的「多階段評估」並未發現他有自殺傾向，因此州政府要求警方重新調查卡斯楚的死因。

此外，俄亥俄州也發現負責看守卡斯楚的監獄守衛並未按時察看他的狀況，並涉嫌偽造巡邏記錄，才讓卡斯楚有「自殺」的空檔。

【周佩萱╱綜合外電報導】載著家中愛犬出門兜風時，不少小狗喜歡把頭探出窗外，享受微風迎面吹來，不過這隻小狗湯瑪斯搭車時，一定要和主人手牽手才會安心。

湯瑪斯的主人拍下這段開車載牠的影片，從影片中可以看到，車子一發動湯瑪斯就伸出小掌，要主人牽住牠，主人只要一放手，牠就會拍拍主人的手臂，撒嬌似地要主人牽好牠。

這段可愛又溫馨的影片，當然成功吸引不少注意，成為YouTube上熱門影片，大家紛紛留言表示很喜歡，主人受訪表示他還真沒想到會這麼受歡迎，而且他也強調拍攝影片的手機，是架在儀表板前，他絕對有遵照安全駕駛規定，沒有造成任何危險。

【簡嘉宏╱綜合外電報導】美國佛州奧蘭多環球影城（Universal Orlando）內一座雲霄飛車9日晚間發生故障，12名遊客被掛在空中近3小時，技術人員10日已進行檢修，查明故障原因。
 
「好萊塢搖滾火箭」（Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit）在9日晚間7時故障，救援團隊將雲霄飛車推移至軌道上的一處平台，讓遊客離開飛車再搭雲梯回到地面，大部分遊客僅受到驚嚇，1人因頸部疼痛送往當地醫院治療。
 
佛州奧蘭多市的消防主管戴伊（Jeff Day）9日表示，疑似因為雲霄飛車的機件故障，啟動了安全裝置，將車體固定在軌道上，才讓這12名遊客被吊在半空中飽受驚嚇。在檢查出故障原因前，雲霄飛車都將暫停營運。

【大紀元2013年10月10日訊】（大紀元記者張妮澳洲悉尼編譯報導）澳洲布里斯本機場決定建第二條跑道，工程總耗資13.5億澳元，乘客們可能會承擔一些航空公司的著陸費，來支持該項目。

據澳新社消息，布里斯本機場運營公司（BAC）女總裁艾爾洛（Julieanne Alroe）表示，還在和澳航（Qantas）洽談出資的問題，但是目前為止澳航沒有同意。艾爾洛在停機坪上接受採訪時說：「澳航將參與進來。我們相信會有足夠經濟能力使這個項目得以進行。」

艾爾洛說，項目自然將導致費用提升。「航空公司要支付著陸費來資助基礎設施建設。不同航空公司有不同的方式把這筆費用分攤到乘客頭上。」

澳洲聯邦副總理特拉斯（Warren Truss）說，這條3.3公里平行跑道是自1997年機場私有化以來，最大的單一航空基礎設施項目。「這對企業和社區很重要。如果你想有旅遊業，想在市區舉辦大型國際活動，我們就必須要有如此質量的機場。因此這個跑道絕對是非常重要的一項基礎設施。」

該跑道將在幾週內開工，預計在2020年完成。省長紐曼（Campbell Newman）說該項目將打開昆省「商業的大門」。

旅遊和交通論壇（TTF）表示，布里斯本是1997私有化以來全國發展最快的機場，在過去十年間國際旅客的數量增加了71%。但是在過去幾年裡，布里斯本機場擁擠現象越來越嚴重，艱難地應對增加的客流量。

布里斯本機場運營商一直都支持建造第二條跑道，稱項目遭到資金困難，去年和維珍（Virgin）談成了資助合約後，澳航的合約還沒談下來。
