【王覺一／桃園報導】第1次在國際賽對上日本，澳洲坎培拉騎兵4番巴恩斯(Jeremy Barnes)認為日本投手控球都很好，球速變化運用自如，球路也很多樣。雖然他無法幫助球隊贏球，但單場4打數3安打，對自己表現還是感到滿意。
 
巴恩斯表示，過去在澳洲打球曾對決亞洲投手，但都是黃面孔，他也搞不清是日本還是台灣人。今天首次對上日本投手，果然名不虛傳，面對先發投手永井怜，騎兵打者第1輪9人次被三振4次，唯一安打就是巴恩斯的傑作。不過從第2輪開始，騎兵從永井怜手中敲出7安打，其中5局下以5支安打追回3分。
 
騎兵明天準決賽對手是今晚台灣統一獅與南韓三星獅的勝隊。巴恩斯表示，這幾天有看過2支獅隊的比賽，但畢竟看得不多，資訊有限，對2隊的投手並不熟悉，明天比賽要看臨場表現。

【於慶中／綜合外電報導】英國伯明翰最近出現狂徒，已有3名女子被疑受污染的針筒刺傷後，現在面臨染上多種致命病毒，包括愛滋病和乙型肝炎等危險，3人都已接受血液測試，正等待結果。警方昨天(16日)公開閉路電視影片，希望盡快將歹徒緝拿歸案。

警方表示，最近一起案件發生在本月3日、地點在酒吧林立的布羅德街(Broad Street)，一名30歲的女子凌晨時突然被人用針筒剌傷大腿，受害人事後隨即接受血液測試，正等待檢驗結果。連同這起案件，布羅德街從去年開始，至少有5名女子被無故刺傷，其中兩人已確認並未無感染任何致命病毒，另外3人正等待驗血結果，警方相信5起案件是同一個人所為，正追緝影片中涉嫌傷人男子。

【於慶中／綜合外電報導】土耳其一名3年級女大學生，周二(12日)在學校宿舍的洗手間，意外產下一名女嬰，可能是因為太過害怕，女大生竟然用刀砍下了女嬰的頭，並替沒有頭的女嬰屍拍下照片，透過手機將照片傳給女嬰正在當兵的父親，並將女嬰的頭和身體，分別藏在宿舍的二個冰箱冷凍庫內。女嬰的父親收到簡訊嚇傻，連忙在電話中勸說女大生自首。

女大生第一時間供稱，由於懷孕不足月，她產下的其實是個死胎，但警方根據現場跡證研判，女嬰最初應該是活的，目前已經將女大生逮捕，並進行深入偵訊。

【於慶中／綜合外電報導】印尼5歲男童里薩爾(Ardi Rizal)，曾一度是最年輕的「小煙鏟」，每日抽煙逾40支，但他成功戒煙後，目前卻變成一個暴食狂。

雖然里薩爾目前只有5歲，但體重已達56磅(25.4公斤)，比同年齡男童超重1倍。戒煙後，他愛上吃垃圾食物，每天要喝3罐煉奶才肯罷休。里薩爾的媽媽表示，因為家裡人很多，很難阻止兒子取得食物。不過，為了避免里薩爾的肥胖問題惡化，現時他在家時，只能吃水果和蔬菜。

營養師則表示，里薩爾這麼年輕就吸煙，令他更容易有體重問題。

（軍聞社記者郭家良臺北十七日電）今年是「飛虎隊」空襲日軍駐新竹基地70週年，空軍新竹基地廿三日將舉辦「華美飛虎年會暨華美混合團空襲日駐新竹基地70週年」紀念活動，將邀請陳納德將軍孫女及飛虎隊成員家屬等人出席，總統馬英九先生也將出席，共同慶祝及見證七十年前華美雙方共同攜手奮戰的「飛虎情誼」。

　活動當天將有三型主力戰機暨雷虎小組進行空中分列式、幻象戰機戰技操演及三軍樂儀隊表演，並特別規劃史料文物陳展，讓與會者得以進一步瞭解當年華美雙方共赴患難的艱辛歷程，緬懷華美軍誼的輝煌歲月。

　空軍司令部指出，飛虎隊歷史為華美空軍並肩作戰最重要的一頁，當年陳納德將軍所領導的美國飛虎英雄，與空軍前輩出生入死，不惜犧牲個人寶貴性命，一同造就區域穩定與和平，成功扭轉二次大戰的局勢，這一段由華美共同譜寫出光輝的史篇，應當永遠烙印在華美雙方民眾心中。
