Thomson Reuters報導，南韓最大汽車製造商現代汽車(Hyundai Motor)於23日預估，今年集團全球銷售量(現代汽車+起亞汽車的銷售量)可望達750萬台以上，將優於原先預估的741萬台。現代汽車表示，南韓國內的新車銷售雖呈現不振，惟因海外銷量增加、成功填補了南韓國內的缺口。
展望明年(2014年)銷售情況，現代汽車表示，因與日本、歐洲車廠的競爭加劇，加上美國、中國大陸需求增幅鈍化，故明年料將是嚴峻的一年；關於南韓國內的情況，現代汽車表示，因南韓/歐盟(EU)自由貿易協定(FTA)效應，故預估明年德國車廠在南韓的銷量料將呈現大幅度增長，而此恐對支配南韓車市的現代汽車集團造成威脅。
據Thomson Reuters指出，2013年1-11月期間，現代/起亞全球銷售量較去年同期成長6%至690萬台，其中海外銷售量受大陸、巴西等新興國家銷售強勁提振而成長8%，南韓國內銷售量則衰退3%。現代/起亞2012年全球銷售量為710萬台。
現代汽車會長鄭夢九預估會在2014年1月2日舉行的新年演說上發表2014年的銷售目標。

| 西元536年的飢荒是哈雷彗星引起的？

 古代人對彗星可是深惡痛覺，認為它們是會帶來厄運的掃帚星。美國哥倫比亞大學Lamont-Doherty地球觀測室的Dallas Abbott等研究學者認為：約1500年前的西元536年前後，歐洲曾經歷過一場飢荒，而這場飢荒可能與著名的哈雷彗星有關。
和現今觀星者喜歡觀賞彗星的熱潮不同，古代人對彗星可是深惡痛覺，認為它們是會帶來厄運的掃帚星，恨不得終身都沒有彗星出現。現在，美國哥倫比亞大學（Columbia University）Lamont-Doherty地球觀測室的Dallas Abbott等研究學者認為：約1500年前的西元536年前後，歐洲曾經歷過一場飢荒，而這場飢荒可能與著名的哈雷彗星有關。這個研究，使得古代人普遍害怕這些掃帚星現象，有了科學而正當的理由。
彗星繞太陽公轉過程中，會一路在軌道上遺留塵埃粒子，尤其是近日點前後時最盛。如果這些塵埃粒子一次性大量進入地球大氣，可能會使地球明顯降溫而使得氣候大變，進而導致大範圍的乾旱、農物欠收，緊接著就是飢荒。這些科學家相信：在西元541~542年發生的拜占庭帝國（ustinian's plague）事件，出現了讓整個歐洲都淪陷黑死病，並導致強盛的羅馬帝國被徹底摧毀。
根據在格陵蘭島取得冰核分析結果，在西元533年至540年的這段時間，有大量塵埃落入地球大氣。Abbott等人相信：這些塵埃來自寶瓶座Eta流星雨，而寶瓶座Eta流星雨的母彗星則是哈雷彗星。這些塵埃落入地球大氣後，可能在西元533年時致使大氣稍微溫度下降，但是同樣現象卻無法解釋西元536~537年全球大氣溫度降了約攝氏3度之多的情況。
Abbott表示：其中一種解釋方式是有某個大東西撞擊到地球海洋，並宣稱她已經找到相關證據能支持她的說法：格陵蘭冰核中含有微小熱帶海洋生物的化石。若有來自如哈雷彗星等地外天體的撞擊，有可能將這些低緯度海洋中的生物衝擊到格陵蘭這樣的高緯度地區去。
做為天字第一號短週期彗星的哈雷彗星，繞太陽公轉一周約需75年，上一次回歸是在1986年，下一次則在2061年。英國天文學家愛得蒙‧哈雷（Edmond Halley）檢視彗星記錄時，發現西元1531年、1607年和1682年的彗星似乎是同一顆，後精確認為真，成為第一顆確認有週期性、會定時回來拜訪地球和太陽的彗星，後人於是將這顆彗星稱為「哈雷彗星」。
類似的理論，在今年八月時，美國哈佛大學（Harvard University）研究學者就曾提出：12900年前一場天體撞擊事件，可能間接導致北美地區Clovis文化滅絕。在他們研究的格陵蘭冰核中，因撞擊留下的鉑元素層，剛好就處在全球氣候驟然下降許多的「大寒時期（Big Freeze）」，因此被視為天體撞擊影響地球氣候變遷的證據之一。
所以，說不定西元536年的大飢荒，真的是哈雷彗星不小心搞出來的呢！

【施旖婕╱綜合外電報導】英國一名38歲女子馬歇爾(Kathryn Marshall)患上怪病，每當站起來時便會頭暈，甚至昏倒。
據英國《每日郵報》報導，馬歇爾因2年前一次車禍導致頸椎受創，之後開始心跳過快而且呼吸困難。車禍發生6星期後，還突然暈倒，要住院3周。醫生診斷她患上罕見的「姿勢性直立心跳過速症候群」(Postural Tachycardia Syndrome)，只要馬歇爾站立，心跳就會加速，並限制血液流向腦部，導致她站立超過1分鐘會隨時失去知覺暈倒。
目前馬歇爾透過藥物控制病情，現已重返工作崗位，只是工作時一定要坐下。

【施旖婕╱綜合外電報導】英國一名對汽車有研究的網友伯頓(Tim Burton)在聖誕節前夕突發奇想，就找來一輛價值約30萬英鎊(約新台幣1470萬元)的義大利超跑藍寶堅尼，用其排煙管烤火雞。
據英國《每日郵報》報導，伯頓先把火雞插在燒烤叉上，站在700匹馬力的藍寶堅尼車尾，讓車主踩空油門，並讓跑車引擎達到9000轉時，排煙管會冒出火焰，這時把火雞放在排煙管處進行BBQ，10分鐘後將火雞燒熟。最後伯頓進行試吃，直呼「很美味」。
